Our Friend Ed

“All Signals Configuring to a Position Seeping from Words Either Unspoken or Intangible”

i know we haven’t posted since our move (been a little caught up in the hustle and bustle of living and getting adjusted to our new surroundings) but i wanted to write a little something about our friend edwin ushiro’s solo show opening tonight at Roq la Rue in seattle. the show is called “preceeding sunday”.

i’ve been a fan of edwin’s for several years and have had the good fortune of working with him a few times. i love the emotional quality of his work and each piece really seems to have its own special story or moment that it’s trying to capture. plus he’s an awesome guy and makes a mean kahlua turkey.

some of my favorite pieces are of ed’s late cat, rusty. he lived to a ripe old age and was said to have been kind to all animals, sometimes even sharing his food with birds. this one especially reminds me of the feral kitten souther and i have been caring for; all bright eyed and bushy-tailed.

“A Commemorative Reset Button”

if you’re in seattle, please check out the show. there are lots of galleries in belltown that are all open for the art walk, which is always fun. for those of you who are out-of-state like me, you can view the show preview here.

Opening Night: Friday, September 10, 6-9pm
Show runs through October 10, 2010
